All commissions will be fulfilled as high-quality, 300dpi jpegs unless specified otherwise by the commissioner. To keep stealing to a minimum, PSDs or any format
showing the individual layers CANNOT be requested. Busts will be 1200x1800 pixels (4"x6" printed), full character pieces will be 2550x3300 (8.5"x11" printed) or
there abouts.
All sketches are done by hand with a good old fashioned pencil and paper, while the rest of the process is finished in the computer. You can request the original
sketch(es) of your piece, if you
really want it, for $50 a pop, plus shipping--you may want to do research on the prices between CA, USA and where ever you're
sending it before requesting this, as shipping can get very pricey. Bust sketches are reduced to $25.
Payment Options
Paypal: This is probably the easiest, and preferred method. If don't have a paypal account then you can use the method below, however it will slow
the overall commission process.
Snail Mail: If you don't have a paypal account, don't want to deal with a middle man, or just don't like paypal in general, then you will have to
TELL me in your initial request email that you will be paying me in this way so I can give you my address. I'll accept checks, money orders, and US dollars.
I won't accept foreign money, or loose change. Read up on the Process section below for more on this. Postage is yours to deal with, of course.
Guidelines
Things I WILL do:
Fanart - So long as you acknowledge that they are not your characters and the original creator is OK with it, I'm happy drawing
whatever character you like. I may need references, though, so be ready to direct me to the nearest pictures.
Tasteful nudes - There's a difference between "nude" and "naked," as my art instructors have said, and if it's not too explicit I'm all for drawing nude
characters.
Violence - Some people have problems with it, but I don't as long as it doesn't make you (or me) want to puke. Blood, fighting,
death, whatever. Worst case scenario I say "no," and you can just change it or go elsewhere.
Original characters - be it from RP, your own imagination, or my imagination, it's all good. (as a courtesy, requests for my own characters will have a
10% discount.)
Furries/anthros/dragons/otherkin/etc. - While not a furry myself, I am furry friendly and am plenty willing to draw it if you're plenty willing to pay. I will
remind you that I am
not a furry artist, so things may come out wrong. If you're really desperate, there are many furry artists who share my
wonderful webhost, so feel free to poke around there if what I'm capable of isn't suitable.
Things I WON'T do:
Porn/hentai/whatever - This is the instant rejection. No sex, no "suggestive" nudity, nothing that gets you horny. Just no.
Non-canon fanpairings that weird me out - I know how much you want that picture of sasuke snogging his older brother done by lil' old me, but
there's tons of other artists who would be willing to do it, and I'm not one of them.
Excessive violence or gore - Dead babies, eviceration, et cetera. I do not draw violent images purely for the gross-out factor. This of course clashes
with the "violence" section above, so you may want to run it by me before you condemn it as something I won't do.
The Process:
Step 1:
Email me with your request to begin correspondence and haggling. Make sure you
understand the rules and don't have a request that I obviously wouldn't do. Requests that don't follow my guidelines will, obviously, neither be drawn nor considered.
Please also be as
detailed as possible in your description of the character(s). The more details I have, the closer it will be to your vision for it. I'll
keep email correspondence as prompt and helpful as I can, I ask that you do the same.
DO NOT PAY ME UNTIL I HAVE CONFIRMED EVERYTHING WITH YOU.
Step 2: Acceptance and half/full payment. Once we have agreed on a price and have the details hammered out, you are expected to pay me promptly through your
chosen method. I request that Snail Mail commissioners and anyone with a total price tag of less than $10
pay me in full beforehand. Everyone paying through
PayPal with a bill over $10 need only pay half of the asking price beforehand...unless they want to pay full price, which is okay too. I will not draw ANYTHING for
you until I have confirmed that your payment has come through.
Step 3: Drawing. After step 2 the commission is pretty much in my hands. How much time it takes depends on lots of things, and most will probably take anywhere
from a few days to a few weeks depending on my schedule, so if you need it by a set date (a birthday present, for example) MAKE SURE I KNOW so I can adjust
accordingly. I will keep correspondence with you throughout the process to confirm with you if I'm doing your idea justice. If you don't hear from me roughly once a
week, give me a nudge via email.
Step 3 1/2: Completing payment. Around the time when I deem the piece is half complete I will share my progress and request the second half of your payment. If
you paid in full at the start of the process, just skip this step.
Step 4: Completed work. When I'm done with the commission you will recieve a high quality 300 dpi, unwatermarked JPG (with my signature discreetly
placed) to do with as you will. Congratuations, you now have a Mystik Skies original in your hands! If you want to be really nice you could email me with links
to (or pictures of) whatever you used it for.
Rules and Legal Formalities
1: I reserve the right to use your commissioned image as a portfolio piece, post it in my gallery, or for any other purpose on the Mystik Skies site itelf.
I will not use them for any monetary gains or sell them to another party. I've already made a pretty penny in making it, and I believe that good character
brings more customers. If the piece commissioned is of your own unique characters (for instance, from a comic or story you are writing) then you can request that I
leave it out of my website, however if I'm proud of it I will still use it for portfolio work.
1-a: If your commissioned piece is a gift for someone who may visit the site often, please tell me so I do not post it in the gallery until they have
recieved the image themselves.
2: You may only use the commissioned image for personal enjoyment. You are not allowed to use it to make a profit in any way, nor claim it to be your own
work. Each piece will have my signature either integrated into the image or in the corner as well, and it is common courtesy to keep it there. You can, however,
splice a piece up for forum signatures and avatars, use it for roleplaying, or print it out for your own walls.
If you wish to commission me for a professional piece (fat chance) that will be used for monetary gain (artbooks, illustrations, prints, etc.) please
contact me via email so we can negotiate something more formal.
